A few simple steps can be taken to make sure you extend the life of framed artwork and collectables.
- prevent direct contact between artwork and glass. If you don’t want a mount in a glazed frame, ask about other solutions. Artwork will become damaged if in constant contact with the glass;
- avoid hanging artwork in direct sunlight; remember anti-reflection glass will not protect works from light damage, it just helps you to see it more easily
- avoid hanging framed work above heaters
- avoid hanging work in rooms which are prone to humidity.
- ensure air can circulate behind the picture. We attach felt pads on the bottom of all work so that it is held a few millimetres from the wall;
- ensure the hooks and hanging arrangements are secure and can support the artwork.
- occasionally check to see that the backing tape has not lifted. Refit if necessary
