In conservation work we use the guidelines set down by the Fine Arts Trade Guild as our working standard. The main aims are to ensure that your artwork is given the best care and protection over time that we possibly can. Through careful handling in the framing process, correct choices of materials used and appropriate methods of supporting your work in the frame, we endeavour to protect pieces from:
- Acidity
- Heat
- Insects
- Grease
- light
Usual candidates for this method of framing are ones which have clear monetary value such as original paintings and limited edition prints. Similarly pieces that have age, or sentimental worth, could be treated in this way.
Although artwork may look the same as other framed items, there are many differences:
- all tapes and adhesives are conservation standard (PH Neutral)
- only gummed conservation papers and tapes are used in attaching artwork into its mount so that any attachment can be reversed without damaging the original piece;
