I think that the plant is Ragged Robin. The flowers themselves are quite insect like (well, wings anyway), so the bee looks totally in place going about its business. The reduced depth of focus helps to draw the image to you. I also softened the focus before printing to enusre a lighter atmosphere.

A simple study of a dandelion. The leaf textures and colours provide a stark contrast to the yellow "starburst" of the flower.

This shot was not accidental and I ended up pursuing several hover flies from bloom to bloom, trying to get the shot. The mottled background helps to make the flower head and guest push out at you.

The colour tones and shapes of these fungii remind me of damp autumn mornings. To make the shot work, it was important to have the strong focus of the blades of grass set against the softer, fleshy look of the mushrooms / toadstools

This shot of a hollyhock flower tries to bring out the tissue paper quality of the flower petals. The delicate colours and slight creases give the petals the appearance of skin.

Although it looks like a view through a microscope, this is simply a study of the flower on ivy. The black and white shot brings out every detail of the texture on the flower head.

Another plant study with an unexpected visitor. This time a red ant is caught climbing through the orchid's cluster of flowers.

The second study of the orchid was taken to show the shape of one of the flowers, as well as the cluster of buds towards the head of the plant. With the grass stalks in the background it feels a bit like a firework shooting out of the picture.
